Kinnickinic River Restoration, Pulaski Park
milwaukee, wisconsin
In an effort to reduce flood risk and improve public safety and aquatic habitat, Milwaukee County Parks and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District hired a multidisciplinary team to restore a significant portion of the Kinnickinic River in a southside neighborhood park in Milwaukee. The project included the removal of over 1,800 feet of deteriorating concrete channel that was replaced with native wetland, wet meadow, and prairie vegetation. The remaining portion of the project was restored to match the character of Pulaski Park.
Resolution Studio provided vegetation plans for channel restoration alternatives, and developed construction documents, operations and maintenance manuals, plans and costs for vegetation, engineering services during construction, and post construction monitoring of vegetation establishment. Project was constructed between 2018 and 2020.
